Transforming Behavioral Health Care in Alabama

AltaPointe Health is proud to be among the first providers in Alabama selected for the Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) designation. This national initiative is designed to enhance access to comprehensive, high-quality behavioral health services for individuals across our state.

What is a CCBHC?

Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics are specially designated centers that deliver a broad range of mental health and substance use disorder services. The CCBHC model is designed to improve access to care, integrate services, and ensure individuals receive timely, coordinated treatment that addresses both behavioral and physical health needs.

Key services provided through CCBHCs include:

  • 24/7 crisis services
  • Integrated care for mental health and substance use disorders
  • Primary care screening and monitoring
  • Evidence-based practices and treatment
  • Care coordination across providers and systems

Alabama’s Selection and AltaPointe’s Role

In 2025, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), through the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), selected Alabama as one of 10 new states to join the CCBHC Medicaid Demonstration Program. This designation follows Alabama’s successful development of the infrastructure and partnerships needed to meet CCBHC standards.

As the designated mental health provider for seven counties—Baldwin, Clay, Coosa, Mobile, Talladega, Randolph, and Washington—AltaPointe is uniquely positioned to expand the reach and impact of behavioral health services in our region.

We serve families in Alabama’s Mobile Bay and east-central regions. Our team uses evidence-based treatments tailored to each child’s unique needs.
