Our Services

Bridge Team

This program serves as a bridge between hospitalization and outpatient services. A multi-disciplinary team of AltaPointe professionals provides time-limited, intensive follow-up and support services designed to prevent decompensation and re-hospitalization. Through this intensive discharge planning and support, patients are better able to manage their symptoms and medications, and improve their lives through consistent therapy.

Medical Education

AltaPointe Health contracts with the University of South Alabama to provide administration and faculty for the USA College of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry. AltaPointe provides both clinical and didactic teaching, which includes lectures and training to residents, medical students, certified registered nurse practitioner students and physician assistant students.

AltaPointe’s psychiatrists are faculty for the department. All of the psychiatrists are either board certified or preparing to take their board examinations. Most of them have at least one sub-specialty, such as, child and adolescent psychiatry or forensic psychiatry.

The agreement strengthens the relationship between AltaPointe and the university. Because of the arrangement, the university is not required to hire psychiatrists from across the United States or from other countries. In addition, AltaPointe hopes that USA medical residents who declare psychiatry as a specialty will remain in Mobile to practice, which helps to increase the pool of psychiatrists in the Mobile Bay region.

ConsultPointe

Acute Care Hospitals

ConsultPointe provides psychiatric evaluation or services to hospitalized medical patients.

EastPointe Psychiatrists at Nurses StationAltaPointe psychiatrists provide hospital consultation services for eligible medical patients who need a psychiatric consult at Mobile area hospitals including Providence, Springhill, USA and USA Children’s and Women’s, and Thomas Hospital in Fairhope.

Our psychiatrists work with primary care physicians, specialists, nurses and hospital staff to communicate, coordinate and integrate medical and psychiatric care that maximizes the benefit to our mutual patients.

If an AltaPointe patient is admitted to any local hospital and needs psychiatric care as well as medical care, the hospital psychiatrist will be an AltaPointe psychiatrist. This arrangement provides an efficient and reliable consistency of care that is comforting to patients in medical and mental distress.

Telehealth

IMPORTANT POLICY INFORMATION REGARDING TELEHEALTH AND COVID-19

In order to assure the health and safety of all patients and staff, if you are not feeling well, or believe you have COVID-19 symptoms, please give your healthcare provider a call to discuss. If you are unable to come into the office or choose not to come into the office, we will provide telehealth for almost all services.

Most insurances will cover telehealth services the same as an office visit. If you need to cancel your appointment due to illness, you will not be charged a fee during this time. If you choose not to come into the office, then please give us 24 hours advance notice so the session can be completed via telehealth services. This will also give you time to learn the instructions. Please monitor the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) for the latest COVID-19 developments. If you have any further questions, please contact your provider or call our access to care line at: (251) 450-2211, or toll-free (888) 335-3044.

AltaPointe specialists use a secure video transmission called telehealth to deliver the best care available to residents of Mobile, Baldwin and Washington counties in our southern region and Clay, Coosa, Randolph, and Talladega counties in our northern region.  Our patients benefit from improved access to the most highly trained psychiatric professionals in our area, while travel time for patients and physicians is dramatically reduced.

Clinical uses include real-time video conference transmissions of medical data and/or high definition images for diagnosis or disease management. This innovative use of technology allows our providers to more efficiently deliver health services, provide education and even respond immediately to a far-away crisis in progress. Effective patient monitoring and follow-up can often take place without the inconvenience of travel to a central location.

Non-clinical benefits include distance education, such as continuing medical education, research collaboration, and patient education. Our administrators use telehealth to conduct meetings, provide supervision and even deliver presentations in a more timely and cost-efficient manner. Telehealth is just one example of the many ways AltaPointe harnesses technology to improve the mental health of our patients.
