Independent Living Program

Independent-Living-Program-StaffThe Independent Living Program prepares young people for the challenges and opportunities they face as self-sufficient adults. The program serves young adults ages 16 to 21 who either have gainful employment, are in school full time or volunteer in the community and can demonstrate that they can live on their own. Residents must be referred by the Alabama Department of Human Resources.

Upon entering the Independent Living Program, each young adult is placed in a conveniently located apartment in Mobile. Each resident receives instruction in basic living skills such as money management, shopping, food preparation, social networking, education and career planning to help them achieve the goal of successful independent living.
